1. Cancellation of Charter:
The following Charters have been revoked by VFW National Commander-in-Chief Thein in
accordance with VFW National By-Laws and Manual of Procedures Article II Section 211:
a. VFW Post 5474 Newton, Georgia
b. VFW Post 8377 Danielsville, Georgia
c. VFW Post 5533 Dahlonega, Georgia
d. VFW Post 8977 Atlanta, Georgia
e. VFW Post 4825 Sylvester, Georgia

2. Post Consolidation:
VFW Post 7612 Atlanta, Georgia consolidated with VFW Post 6330 Jonesboro, Georgia and
is now known as Michael G. Gecik Post 6330, Jonesboro, Georgia.

3. Post Election Reports:
Attention is directed to Article II Section 217 of the National By-Laws and Manual of
Procedure covering the nomination, election and installation of Post Officers. Post Election
Report form was mailed to Post Quartermasters with instruction that they complete the
form online through the Online Membership System (OMS) or they can complete the form
and return directly to National Headquarters immediately following the elections of Post
Officers (April meeting), but no later than June 1, 2014.

4. District Conventions:
Pursuant to Article IV Section 403 of the National By-Laws and Manual of Procedure, each
District shall hold an annual District Convention for the purpose of electing District officers,
such convention to be held not less than ten (10) days no more than seventy five (75) days
prior to the convening of the Department Convention. This year's Department Convention
is June S-8, 2014.

5. Post Delegate to District/State Conventions:
Article II Section 222 of the National By-Laws and Manual of Procedure provides that Posts
shall elect delegates and alternates to District Conventions at a regular meeting of the Post
held not less than thirty (30) days prior to the District Convention at which District officers
are to be elected: one (1) delegate and one (1) alternate for each thirty (30) members or
fraction thereof in good standing in the Post at the time of the election.
Delegates and alternates to the Department Convention shall be elected at a regular Post
meeting held not less than thirty (30) days prior to the Department Convention, Posts are
entitled to one (1) delegate and one (1) alternate for each thirty (30) members or fraction
thereof in good standing in the Post at the time of the election. The Department of Georgia
By-Laws Article VII Section 6 states the voting delegate strength is based on the record of
members in good standing according to the records in the Department Headquarters as of
April 30, 2014.

6. National Convention:
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States will convene the 115th National Convention
in St. Louis, Missouri, July 19-23, 2014. All hotel room reservations must be made through
VFW Housing Bureau. Reservation forms are available on the National VFW Website:
www.vfw.org Deadline for hotel reservations is June 13, 2014. Room rates are $149.00 plus
tax per night.

7. State Convention:
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Department of Georgia will convene the
72nd State Convention in Macon, Georgia at the Marriott Macon City Center June S-8, 2014.
Room rates are $83.00 plus tax per night. Deadline for hotel reservations is May 12, 2014.
Cost of advance registration is $15.00, banquet $35.00. Deadline for advance
registration/banquet tickets is May 23, 2014 which includes money received at State
Headquarters. Cost at the Convention site is registration $20.00, banquet $40.00.

8. National Delegate Fees:
Each Post will pay, in advance, a National Convention registration fee of twenty-five dollars
($25.00) which shall entitle the Post to a packet of Convention information and materials
and one (1) identified registered delegate for the National Convention. Each additional
delegate attending the National Convention will pay a ten dollar ($10.00) delegate fee. The
delegate's registration can ONLY be made by the Post Quartermaster via the On-Line
Membership (OMS) System or mailing the form to National Headquarters.

9. Department Delegate Fees:
In accordance with Department of Georgia By-Laws, a delegate registration fee shall be
paid by each Post for every delegate to which each Post shall be entitled, based upon the
State Quartermaster's record as of April30, 2014. The delegate registration fee shall be
forwarded by each and every Post regardless of the number of delegates present at the
annual Department Convention. The delegate fee is $12.00 per delegate plus an additional
$5.00 for the Post Commander. Posts failing to forward the full delegate registration fee
shall be considered delinquent and in arrears.

10. Resolutions:
All resolutions for the Department Convention consideration shall be typewritten, four (4)
copies, and shall be in the hands of the Department Commander or Adjutant at least thirty
(30) days prior to the convening of the Department Convention (no later than May 5, 2014)
so that a copy can be recorded by the Adjutant and copies for study forwarded to the
Committee Chairman at least fifteen (15) days prior to the convening of the Department
Convention.

11. By-Laws:
All By-Law amendments must be submitted to State Headquarters (no later than May 1,
2014) so proper distribution can be made.

12. Community Service Reports:
All reports, Community Service, Youth, Safety, and Americanism are due into Department
Headquarters by April 30, 2014.

13. Buddy Poppy:
The Department still needs your help on Buddy Poppy orders. We are behind last year in
our purchase of Buddy Poppies. Order now for Memorial Day. Orders received after April
30, 2014 cannot be guaranteed for delivery on time for your Memorial Day event.

14. Joe L. Smith Memorial Plaque:
Presented to Mr. VFW of the year. Please give consideration to a worthy comrade for this
most prestigious award. Nominations must be submitted to State Headquarters no later
than April 30, 2014.

15. All State Team:
Deadline date April 30, 2014 is fast approaching for Commanders and Quartermasters to
reach their criteria. Please refer to the Commander's Yearbook to see what requirements
you must achieve, those you have achieved, and those remaining.

16. Arrearages:
Posts and Districts are reminded to take care of any outstanding bills and or obligations
owed to National or the Department by June 1, 2014. Check with State Headquarters if you
are not sure if your Post or District owes the Department money, (Buddy Poppies,
Admission Fees, Delegate Fees, Bonds, etc.)


17. Disciplinary Action:
A disciplinary hearing was held for Howard J. Bird, Jr. member of VFW Post 4629, LaGrange,
Georgia. The Disciplinary Hearing Panel entered a sentence of the loss of the right to hold
any elected or appointed office in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United State for a
period of three (3) years. SPECIAL ORDER NO. 335 was issued:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED because there was no timely appeal to the Commander-in-Chief,
that HOWARD J. BIRD, JR. not be allowed to hold any elected or appointed office in the
Veterans of Foreign of the United States for a period of three (3) years commencing May
23, 2013 and ending on May 23, 2016.


18. Council of Administration Meeting:
The Council of Administration will meet on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 4:00P.M. to conclude
2013-2014 business.
